Sharpton was selected by the Texans in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Miami. The 5-11, 235-pounder appeared in 42 games with 19 starts over four seasons with Houston, recording 144 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception and 17 special-teams tackles.

Bears linebackers coach Reggie Herring served as Sharpton's position coach with the Texans from 2011-13. Sharpton was cut by the Redskins on Monday after spending the first three weeks of the season on injured reserve with a sprained ankle he sustained in August.

Fiammetta appeared in all 16 games with seven starts for the Bears last season. In his only appearance this year, he sustained a hamstring injury in Monday night's win over the Jets.
