The Bears on Tuesday waived defensive end Cheta Ozougwu.
Ozougwu was selected by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2011 draft out of Rice. He attended Alief Taylor High School in Houston along with Bears tight ends Martellus Bennett and Fendi Onobun.
The Bears have signed four defensive ends since the start of free agency March 11: Jared Allen (Vikings), Lamarr Houston (Raiders), Willie Young (Lions) and Israel Idonije (Lions).
In other news Tuesday, former Bears punter Adam Podlesh agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Podlesh was released by the Bears March 5 after ranking 33rd in the NFL with a 40.6-yard gross punting average last season.
