The Bears will host the Cowboys Sunday at Soldier Field without three key members of their defense: linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson (groin) and Kyler Gordon (hamstring).
All three have been ruled out of the contest after being unable to practice all week.
Defensive back Jaylon Jones (hamstring) and offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie (elbow) also will miss the game after being held out of practice.
Running back D'Andre Swift (quad) and linebacker D'Marco Jackson (hamstring) are listed as questionable after being limited in Friday's workout.
Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (knee) and receiver Jahdae Walker (ankle) both practiced without restrictions and were not given an injury designation.
With Edwards out, the Bears no doubt will continue to count on linebacker Noah Sewell, who is tied for the team lead with 14 tackles. After playing predominantly on special teams in his first two NFL seasons, the 2023 fifth-round pick has excelled on defense so far this year.
"To me, he is the epitome of a linebacker," said coach Ben Johnson. "He's a little bit of a throwback in this era too where [he's] really physical, not afraid to 'see ball, get ball.' He strikes with aggression, gets off blocks. He'll shoot a gap if he sees it open.
"He's been a guy really from springtime to camp, I've been pleased with how he's impressed. [Linebackers] coach Richard Smith has done a great job working and developing his skills and Noah has really taken the right approach.
"That's one. And then two, the confidence has just grown steadily as well. He's a guy that takes a lot of pride in what he does, and he goes out there, he plays hard, and he plays the game the right way."
With Johnson and Gordon sidelined, cornerback Nahshon Wright figures to once again see expanded playing time. In the season opener, the fourth-year pro intercepted a J.J. McCarthy pass and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown.
"It's a big opportunity when you get to go out there and play from snap one until the end of the game and compete for four quarters," Wright said.
Wright signed with the Bears this year after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Cowboys (2021-23) and Vikings (2024). For the second straight home game, he will face one of his former teams.
"It's definitely cool because a lot of the guys that I was with in Dallas are still there," Wright said. "It will be cool to see them and compete against them. Minnesota was fun, playing against guys I've got to hang around, and then Dallas, being there three years, I know quite a few of those guys."
