Saints match Bears offer sheet to Hill

The New Orleans Saints on Friday announced that they have matched the three-year offer sheet that restricted free agent tight end Josh Hill signed with the Bears on Tuesday.

The Saints had until Sunday to match the offer. Because they tendered Hill at the lowest level for restricted free agents, they would not have received any compensation had they chose not to match it.

Hill, 25, has spent his first three NFL seasons with the Saints, appearing in 46 games with 13 starts and catching 36 passes for 340 yards and eight touchdowns.

The 6-5, 229-pounder entered the NFL in 2013 as an undrafted free agent from Idaho State when Bears general manager Ryan Pace worked in the Saints' personnel department.
