Injury Update: T.J. Edwards, Kyler Gordon set to return Monday night vs. Commanders

TJ Edwards Kyler Gordon Injury Update 2025 Week 6 16x9 - 2W

Linebacker T.J. Edwards and nickel back Kyler Gordon will be on the field together for the first time this season Monday night.

Both players practiced in full Saturday and are without injury designations for the Bears' primetime game against the Commanders in Washington, D.C.

Edwards and Gordon have been dealing with hamstring injuries since training camp. Edwards has missed three of the Bears' first four games and exited Week 2's game in Detroit early, while Gordon has sat out all four contests. Not only will both players' return positively impact their respective position groups, coach Ben Johnson believes the duo can also help generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks, starting with Washington QB Jayden Daniels Monday night.

"You always talk about affecting the quarterback through the marriage of rush and coverage," Johnson told reporters Saturday. "They're probably more coverage players than they are pass rushers, but with that being said, if you're stickier in coverage, then you potentially have more time to get to that quarterback. If you look at this week in particular, they'll certainly help us out, getting them back, but we're facing a different challenge here at quarterback than most weeks.

"This guy, not only is he accurate throwing from the pocket, but he's very elusive and he can find a little crease in there and explode for an explosive scramble as well. You always talk about trying to bottle guys like this up. That's always easier said than done. We're very conscious of him and his ability to find a gap and go, and so when you think about that, the pass rush kind of has to have a little bit different nature by design."

The Bears defense, however, will be without veteran tackle Grady Jarrett (knee), who will miss his second consecutive game.

The Bears listed four players as questionable for Monday night's game: tight end Colston Loveland (hip), kicker Cairo Santos (right thigh), defensive end Austin Booker (knee) and running back Travis Homer (calf).

Loveland practiced in full Saturday after being listed as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. While Santos practiced in full all week, his status for Monday remains in question. Johnson told reporters before Saturday's practice that he likes where Santos' head is and that the Bears will "have a plan" if the veteran kicker isn't available.

"I feel good about where we're at right now, and we'll have another day of practice to be able to evaluate not only Cairo, but all the other guys, and make sure we're making the most informed decisions going into the game," Johnson said. "That's really what the week is for, going through all the hypotheticals as a coaching staff and making sure we're prepared."

Both Booker and Homer, who started the season on injured reserve, still need to be activated off IR before 3 p.m. CT Monday in order to be available against the Commanders.
