The Bears on Saturday made the following roster moves in advance of Sunday's home game against the Packers:

• Signed quarterback Nathan Peterman to the active roster.

Peterman will serve as the backup Sunday for quarterback Justin Fields, who practiced in full on Friday with no injury designation. Peterman hasn't played for the Bears this season, spending the first 11 weeks on the practice squad.

The four-year pro has appeared in 10 career games, starting in four, with the Bills (2017-18) and Raiders (2019-21). Peterman was in the backup role last weekend against the Jets as Trevor Siemian made his first start with the Bears in place of the injured Fields.

• Placed quarterback Trevor Siemian on Injured Reserve.

Siemian will miss the remainder of the season to have surgery on his oblique which he injured in pregame warmups against the Jets. While Siemian played all four quarters last Sunday, coach Matt Eberflus told reporters Friday that MRIs showed "he could or couldn't do surgery and he elected to do it."

The veteran completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 179 yards while throwing a touchdown and interception in the Bears' loss to New York.

• Elevated safety Adrian Colbert and cornerback Harrison Hand from the practice squad to the active roster.

Colbert, a six-year veteran, signed to the Bears practice squad Tuesday. He most recently spent time with Tennessee during training camp but was waived during final cuts.

Colbert has appeared in 39 career games with 22 starts for the 49ers (2017-18), Seahawks (2019), Dolphins (2019), Giants (2020), Jets (2021) and Browns (2021), recording 109 tackles, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also spent time with the Chiefs (2020), Patriots (2021) and Titans (2022).

Hand has been with the Bears since Sept. 13 when they claimed him off waivers from the Giants. Prior to spending six days with New York's practice squad, he was released by the Vikings, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his two seasons with Minnesota, Hand played in 23 games, starting one, and totaled 22 tackles, three passes defended and an interception.
