Biography

PRO CAREER: Started 29-of-31 games for the Bears, carrying the ball 528 times for 2,435 yards (4.6 avg) and 15 touchdowns ... adds 52 receptions for 423 yards (8.1 avg) and one touchdown ... set a Bears rookie rushing record in 2016 with his 1,313 yards and became the second-youngest Bears RB to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season ... his 1,313 yards ranked second in the NFL behind Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott, marking the first time since the 1970 merger that two rookies finished 1-2 in the NFL in rushing ... later became the first Bears rookie running back to be voted to the Pro Bowl since Hall of Famer Gale Sayers in 1965 ... became fastest player in Bears history to record 10 games of 100+ yards rushing (23 games) ... also became the fastest Bears player to 2,000 yards (24 games), doing so faster than Walter Payton (26 games) and Gale Sayers (28 games) ... became the first Bear ever to rush for 1,000+ yards in each of his first two seasons ... has 12 100-yard rushing games since the start of 2016, tied for the most in the NFL over that span (Ezekiel Elliott, DAL). 

2017 SEASON: Started all 16 games, rushing for 1,122 yards on 276 carries (4.1 avg) and 9 touchdowns ... finished third in the NFC in rushing ... recorded five 100-yard rushing games ... added 23 receptions for 125 yards (5.4 avg) ... set a career-high in receptions (5) vs. PIT (9/24) ... led the Bears in scoring (12), rushing yards (138), receptions (5) and receiving yards (26) against the Steelers on 9/24 ... the last Bear to accomplish this feat was Matt Forte at Minnesota (12/20/15) ... set a career-high in rushing yards (167) and carries (36) at BAL (10/15) in the overtime victory ... his 167 yards rushing were the second-most allowed by the Ravens by an individual at M&T Bank Stadium (Marshall Faulk, 192 in 1998) ... recorded a 53-yard run in the overtime to set up the winning field goal ... eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark at CIN (12/10), becoming the first player in franchise history to rush for 1,000+ yards in each of his first two seasons ... Howard dominated AFC North opponents in 2017, rushing for 498 yards on 104 attempts with six touchdowns in four wins over the Steelers, Ravens, Bengals and Browns.

COLLEGE: Appeared in 32 career games over three seasons with UAB (2013-14) and Indiana (2015), compiling 3,681 rushing yards on 647 attempts (5.7 avg) and 24 rushing touchdowns, with 24 receptions for 261 yards (10.9) and 3 receiving touchdowns … earned first team all-Big Ten (2015), all-CUSA (2014) and CUSA all-Freshman team (2013) honors and was named Indiana's Corby Davis Memorial Award winner (2015) … set UAB's single-season rushing yards record in the football program's final season (2014) with 1,587 … finished his career with 17 career 100-yard games, including in 10 of his last 13 … became the only FBS player in the last 20 seasons with 140-plus rushing yards in each of his first four games with a program ... as a junior, in his first season at Indiana, started 9-of-9 games ranking second in the Big Ten with 134.8 rushing yards per game (ninth nationally) … finished the season with 1,213 rushing yards (third in the Big Ten) on 196 carries (fourth in the Big Ten), a 6.2 average, with 9 rushing touchdowns … became the 11th Hoosier to reach 1,000 yards in a single year, 12th on the program's all-time single-season list … finished his career with 17 career 100-yard games, including in 10 of his last 13, and 12 150-yarders … following the season, named first team All-Big Ten (coaches and media) and earned the team's Corby Davis Memorial Award (Outstanding Back) ... rushed for a UAB single-season record 1,587 yards on 306 carries (5.2 average) with 13 touchdowns as a sophomore ... caught 9 passes for 72 yards with 1 touchdown ... ranked seventh nationally with 132.3 rushing yards per game ... collected eight 100-yard games, including four straight to end the year, and five 150-yarders ... played in 11 contests and started five at UAB as a freshman ... rushed for 881 yards on 145 carries (6.1 average) with 2 touchdowns and caught 4 passes for 83 yards and a score ... set the UAB freshman single-season record and tied for second among freshmen nationally with 881 rushing yards.
