Biography

PRO CAREER:

  • Enters his 14th NFL season and his first in Chicago
  • Has appeared in 187 regular season contests and started 74 games for Miami (2007-09), San Francisco (2010-12), Arizona (2014), Carolina (2013, 2015-16) and New Orleans (2017-19), posting career totals of 409 receptions for 5,702 yards (13.9 avg.) with 33 touchdowns and has rushed 68 times for 486 yards with two touchdowns
  • On special teams, Ginn has returned 257 punts for 2,600 yards (10.1 avg.) with four touchdowns and brought back 307 kickoffs for 6,899 yards (22.5 avg.) with three touchdowns
  • Returned two kickoffs for touchdowns against the N.Y. Jets in 2009 to tie an NFL record and became first player in NFL history to have two 100-yard kickoff returns for scores in the same game
  • The ninth overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, Ginn is one of only 10 players in NFL history to register two kickoff returns for touchdowns in the same game and the versatile threat has also developed into a playmaker on offense
  • Ginn, who has an 87-yard punt return TD and three kickoff-return TDs of at least 100 yards in his career, is the fourth player in NFL history to have a receiving touchdown, punt-return touchdown and kickoff-return touchdown of at least 85 yards each in his career

2018 SEASON (Saints)

  • Played in five games with three starts recording 17 receptions for 209 yards (12.3 avg.) and two touchdowns
  • Started both postseason games, tallying a total of six catches for 102 yards
  • Carried the ball once for five yards and hauled in five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown vs. Tampa Bay
  • Was placed on IR, Oct. 18 and returned to action vs. Pittsburgh on Dec 23, posting five receptions for 74 yards
  • In NFC Championship vs. L.A. Rams, 1/20/19, caught a fourth quarter 43-yard pass to set up a field goal

2017 SEASON (Saints):

  • Appeared in 15 regular season games with 10 starts recording 53 receptions for 787 yards (14.8 avg.) and four touchdowns
  • Started both playoff contests and finished with 12 receptions for 187 yards, an 80-yard touchdown reception and an 11-yard rush
  • In his Saints debut in the opener at Minnesota, Sept. 11, caught four passes for 53 yards, carried once for five yards and returned a punt
  • In return to Carolina, Sept. 24, where he played for three seasons, caught two passes for 44 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown grab, his first as a Saint, carried once for 15 yards and returned a punt 15 yards
  • Caught four passes for 66 yards with a touchdown vs. Detroit (10/15), rushed once for three yards, brought back two punts for six yards and returned two kickoffs for 26 yards
  • Caught game-high and team-high seven receptions for 141 yards at Green Bay (10/22), including grabs for 40 and 47 yards, also returning a punt for seven yards
  • Had four receptions for 66 yards vs. Chicago (10/29), including a 53-yard reception and returned three punts for 22 yards
  • Posted four receptions for 59 yards vs. TB (11/5), including a 36-yard touchdown grab
  • Recorded a team-high seven receptions for 71 yards and returned a missed field goal 32 yards at the L.A. Rams (11/26)
  • Rushed two times for 14 yards and caught four passes for team-high 76 yards, including a second quarter 54-yard TD vs. Atlanta (12/24); recovered an onside kick in fourth quarter
  • In NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Carolina (1/7/18), started in a three-WR set and caught four passes for a postseason career-high 115 yards, including a postseason career-long 80-yard touchdown grab
  • In NFC Divisional Playoff at Minnesota (1/14/18), rushed once for 11 yards and had a game-high and a postseason career-high eight receptions for 72 yards

2016 SEASON (Panthers):

  • Appeared in 16 games with eight starts recording 54 receptions for 752 yards (13.9 avg.) and four touchdowns; all four of his receiving touchdowns were all at least 30 yards or more
  • Recorded a touchdown of at least 40 yards or more in three consecutive games from weeks 11 to 13. Also rushed 14 times for 98 yards, returned 29 punts for 202 yards and brought back 18 kickoffs for 391 yards (21.7 avg.) for 1,443 total yards from scrimmage
  • Caught three balls for 46 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown vs. NO (11/17)
  • Recorded four receptions for 115 yards including a career-long 88-yard TD, which ranks as the third longest in Panthers history and was the third longest reception in the NFL in 2016 at Oakland, Nov. 27
  • Hauled in five receptions for 80 yards, including a 55-yard TD, at Seattle (12/4)

2015 SEASON (Panthers):

  • Played in 15 games with 13 starts in return to Carolina and led the Panthers with a career high 10 touchdown catches and became the first Panthers wideout with double-digit TDs since Steve Smith (12 2005)
  • Second on the team with 44 receptions and 739 receiving yards
  • Had the first three multiple touchdown reception games of his career
  • Finished with a 16.8-yards receiving average, eighth in the NFL, leading an offensive unit that averaged 12.9 yards per reception, the third highest mark in the league
  • Helped Panthers set team records with an NFL-leading 500 points and 59 touchdowns and gain a team record 357 first downs
  • Ranked second in the NFC and fifth in the league with a 10.3-yard punt return average on 27 returns with a long of 37
  • In three postseason contests, recorded six receptions for 126 yards, carried two times for 33 yards with a 22-yard touchdown and also returned six punts for 40 yards with a long of 19
  • Posted four receptions for 93 yards, including a 55-yard grab vs. NO (9/27)
  • Recorded his first career game with multiple touchdown catches with a second quarter six-yard TD and a 12-yard third quarter scoring grab at TB (10/4)
  • Hauled in a two-yard touchdown after a successful Carolina challenge of an incomplete pass vs. Washington (11/22)
  • Recorded second multi-touchdown game of season and career on a 13-yard scoring grab in third quarter and a deep 45-yard TD in fourth quarter to reclaim the lead late in contest at NO (12/6)
  • Led team with 120 yards on two receptions, both touchdowns, including a 74-yard TD at Atlanta (12/27)
  • In NFC Championship Game vs. Arizona (1/24/16) recorded a 22-yard rushing TD 

2014 SEASON (Cardinals):

  • Appeared in 16 games for Arizona posting 14 catches for 190 yards
  • Returned a punt 71 yards for a game-winning TD at N.Y. Giants (9/14)
  • Led the team with a 19.0-yard kickoff return average on 22 returns for 417 yards
  • Ranked fourth in the NFC and seventh in the NFL in 2014 with a 10.7-yard punt return average on 25 returns for 277 yards and a touchdown

2013 SEASON (Panthers):

  • Played in all 16 games with two starts for the Carolina Panthers, posting 36 receptions for 556 yards and five touchdown grabs
  • Ranked fourth in the NFC and sixth in the NFL with a team-record 12.2-yard punt return average
  • Returned 26 punts for 316 yards
  • Posted three receptions for 71 yards, including a 47-yard TD grab vs. N.Y. Giants (9/22)
  • Finished with five receptions for 80 yards at Tampa Bay (10/24)

2012 SEASON (49ers):

  • Appeared in 13 games, primarily as a punt returner for Super Bowl finalist San Francisco
  • Ranked third in the NFC with a 10.2-yard punt return average as a member of the conference champion 49ers
  • In postseason, returned three punts for 52 yards with a playoff career-long of 32 yards in Super Bowl XLVII vs. Baltimore (2/3/13)

2011 SEASON (49ers):

  • Played in 14 games with three starts posting 19 catches for 220 yards
  • Returned a punt 55 yards and a kickoff 102 yards for touchdowns in the same game vs. Seattle, Sept. 11
  • The first player in 49ers history to return a kickoff and punt for a touchdown in same game
  • Ginn's 268 return yards were the most in a single game in 49ers history…Ranked third in the NFL in kickoff return avg. (27.6)

2010 SEASON (49ers):

  • In 13 games for the San Francisco 49ers, posted 12 receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown
  • Returned a punt 78 yards for a TD vs. Rams (12/26)
  • Ranked second in the NFC and third in the NFL in 2010 with a 13.4-yard punt return avg

2009 SEASON (Dolphins):

  • Appeared in all 16 games in his final season in Miami, making 12 starts posting 39 receptions for 454 yards and a touchdown
  • Returned two kickoffs for touchdowns against the N.Y. Jets (11/1) to tie an NFL record and became first player in NFL history to have two 100-yard kickoff returns in the same game
  • Tallied a career-high 11 receptions for 108 yards vs. Indianapolis (9/21)
  • Later named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month (November) after having returned 21 kickoffs for 646 yds. (31.7 avg.) and two TDs in the five-game span

2008 SEASON (Dolphins):

  • Played in 16 games with 14 starts and posted 56 receptions for 790 yards and two TDs
  • Led Dolphins with career-highs in receptions and receiving yards
  • Had career day vs. Buffalo (10/26) as he led Miami with seven catches for 175 yards, including a 64-yard grab
  • Had season-high 154 kickoff return yards vs. New England (11/23)

2007 SEASON (Dolphins):

  • Appeared in 16 games as a rookie, starting nine and recorded 34 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns
  • Also had an 87-yard punt return for a TD
  • Reception and receiving yardage totals were the most by a Dolphins rookie wideout since 2001, when Chris Chambers caught 48 passes for 883 yards
  • Returned 24 punts for a 9.6-yd. avg., ranked fourth in the AFC and sixth in the NFL, fielding 63 kickoffs for a 22.7-yd. avg
  • Set team rookie mark with 2,086 all-purpose yards
  • Second in Miami franchise history with 1,433 kickoff return yards, trailing only Brock Marion (1,524 yds. in 1999)
